Hillside recently received exciting news about our ongoing commitment to bring more CARE to our work with youth and families.
Stillwater, Hillside’s residential campus in Greene, NY, has been notified by Cornell University that the campus has earned certification in the Children and Residential Experiences (CARE) model, a leading-edge model for residential treatment.
CARE, pioneered by Cornell’s Residential Child Care Project (RCCP), is an innovative service model that standardizes six guiding principles of care and ensures they are applied in all engagements with youth and families.
Hillside has embraced the CARE model for years, having previously achieved certification at the former Varick Campus. The agency’s in-house Practice & Performance Excellence Group works closely with Human Resources and program staff and leaders to ensure that the model’s principles—treatment that is developmentally focused, family-involved, relationship-based, competence-centered, trauma-informed and ecologically oriented—are integrated into the full array of Hillside services. “Stillwater has fully invested in CARE, has implemented the CARE model throughout the campus and is committed to improving the lives of children and families that it serves,” said Martha Holden, RCCP Director at Cornell.
Our four other residential campuses are all pursuing CARE Certification; and non-residential teams are also working to integrate its principles into their programs.
