Adoption Competency Certificate Program

An understanding of the core issues of adoption is critical to providing a competent continuum of care for families formed by foster care, kinship, guardianship or adoption.

Hillside’s Learning Institute and Adoption Resource Network Adoption Competency Certificate Program provides training for:

  • Social workers

  • Mental health professionals

  • Schools counselors

  • Birth parents of children who were adopted

  • Adoptive or pre-adoptive parents

  • Adults who were adopted

AdoptMent Volunteers Needed

Adoption Resource Network at Hillside is looking for a few adults who were adopted to volunteer for the AdoptMent program.

AdoptMent matches adult adoptees with teens who are somewhere in the adoption process. AdoptMent youth and adults meet as a group and individually for one hour a week from September until June. Training Resources for Foster/Adoptive Families - details

The Center for Development of Human Services is pleased to announce exciting training opportunities for foster/adoptive parents.  

This fall we will continue to offer training using iLinc, a distance learning program that uses the Internet to connect instructors and learners. These workshop offerings will be “synchronous,” meaning that the instructor and learners will all be online at the same time.

Children are hosting a free seminar for anyone interested in learning about

adoption. Participants will hear about new programs in Bulgaria, Moldova and

Colombia. This is also a chance to ask questions of adoptive parents who

have "been there".
