A heartfelt "Thank You" to all who participated in Adoption Resource Network at Hillside Children's Center's 18th Annual Conference, especially the youth who helped to staff the event.

Ten youth who are freed for adoption joined our efforts by distributing brochures, assisting attendees with directions to workshops, staffing the registration table, and assisting in the child care room. 5 youth participated on a Teen Panel, facilitated by Rita Soronen, Executive Director of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Accompanied and encouraged by their staff, the youth mingled with conference attendees. By the end of the day, several families inquired on several of the youth. Within a week, two families had set up initial visits with youth they met at the conference, one family decided to pursue waiting child adoption because she feels drawn to one of the teens, and one teenage girl will be moving in shortly with the family who fell in love with her at the conference. Several youth attended workshops and reportedly had great discussions with staff and/or families as a result. The youth reported that they enjoyed the day and would be willing to do it again. What an exciting day!
