Annual
Conference
- Open to pre-adoptive parents and all
members of the adoption TRIAD (birth parents, adoptive parents,
and adopted persons), the conference provides education on all
aspects of foster care and adoption, as well as networking
opportunities. The Conference is held every November.

and referral
- Includes:

Monthly informational meetings on foster
parenting and adoption processes;

Referral to adoption agencies;

Support and linkages to community
services throughout the adoption process

Referral to other community resources
specific to adoption and/or foster care (therapists, support
groups, etc.), and

counseling
- Individual counseling for:

- Creation and processing of application
forms for international and/or domestic infant adoption. Includes
an initial office interview.

Post-placement
supervision and report
- Post-placement supervision for
international or domestic infant adoption as required by Hillside
Children’s Center and/or the placing agency. (Hillside requires at
least one home visit per adoptive placement.) Includes the home
visit and preparation/submission of a report to the placement
agency.

Adoption
finalization or refinalization
- May be mandated by court order or
requested by the adoptive family. Finalization includes one
post-placement home visit and a report.

Placement
services (domestic infant adoption)
- Includes the referral process and
coordination of adoptive placement for an infant placed in
Hillside Children’s Center’s custody by the birthmother.

Seminars
- Educational forums for professionals on
all aspects of adoption and/or foster care.

Adoption
mentoring (AdoptMent)
- A mentoring program in which adults who
were adopted mentor youth currently in foster care.

Waiting child
adoption
- Assists families interested in adopting
a waiting child to identify a child. Also assists those who have
already identified a child they wish to adopt in the child welfare
system. Includes certification process and Model Approach to
Partnership in Parenting (MAPP) training.

Child-specific
recruitment
- A service offered by contract to public
agencies to find families for children who are freed for adoption
and in need of permanent, adoptive families. Services include the
development of an Individualized Adoption Plan (IAP) for each
youth and an array of recruitment techniques, including the
Hillside Adoption Photo Album, listing with national photo listing
resources, as well as conducting Life Cycle Recruitment, a
comprehensive search for existing connections in each child’s life
by combing through case files, assessing whether situations have
changed, and investigating the possibility of re-establishing
prior relationships to make a permanent connection.

Welcome Home
baby care classes
- Classes for first-time adoptive parents
of infants and toddlers with a focus on baby care and attachment
issues.

Educational
programs
- Workshops on adoption-related topics
are offered throughout the year.

Customized
services
- ARN will customize services in special
situations not included above (i.e., kinship adoption,
personalized training, etc.)

Search for
birth families
- Search services through Adoption
Resource Network at Hillside or by referral through the NYS
Adoption Information Registry.
