Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection appoints former Wegmans employee as new President
Sarah Amering, former Wegmans Director of Community Initiatives, will oversee HW-SC operations in Baltimore, Rochester, and Syracuse
Rochester, NY–February 1, 2008 – Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection announced today the appointment of Sarah Amering, former Wegmans Director of Community Initiatives, as president. Creation of this new position within the organization is a direct result of Hillside Work Scholarship Connection’s expanding operations in Rochester, Syracuse, and Maryland’s Prince Georges County, and is expected to provide the organization with increased opportunity to build support from the community’s business, higher education, and philanthropic sectors.
Formerly the Director of Community Development Initiatives for Wegmans Food Markets and having served as a consultant to the Hillside Work Scholarship Connection, Sarah comes to her position with a BA in Education from SUNY Geneseo and more than eight years experience in education. She began working for Wegmans Food Markets in 1981 and held various roles within human resources during her tenure there.

As president of Hillside Work Scholarship Connection, Sarah will oversee operations across the organization and will serve as supervisor to three regional executive directors: Annette Gantt, Executive Director of HW-SC-Prince Georges County; Rod Green, Interim Executive Director of HW-SC-Rochester; and Wayne O’Connor, Executive Director of HW-SC-Syracuse. Among her primary responsibilities will be fostering increased community support and engagement for and ensuring consistent service delivery of the Hillside Work Scholarship Connection model across all markets.

is an affiliate of Hillside Family of Agencies. Hillside is a family and
children services organization that provides child welfare, mental health, youth
development, juvenile justice, special education, and developmental disabilities
services across Central and Western New York.
Hillside Family of Agencies is comprised of affiliates Crestwood Children’s Center, Crestwood Children’s Foundation, Hillside Children’s Center, Hillside Children’s Foundation, and Snell Farm Children’s Center.
