Community gathers for opening of Hillside Special Santas Headquarters
Ribbon cutting ceremony being held to highlight generosity of Hillside Special Santas community partners
Rochester, NY-November 27, 2007- Hillside Special Santas, the Hillside Family of Agencies’ holiday giving program that offers the community an opportunity to help youth and families build better futures, will hold an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Hillside Special Santas Headquarters on Wednesday, November 28 at 10:30 a.m. on Hillside Children’s Center’s Monroe Avenue campus located at 1183 Monroe Avenue.
Now entering its 26th year, Hillside Special Santas began with distribution of donated gifts stored in a Hillside leader’s office and has grown into a holiday giving program serving children and families in 24 counties throughout New York State. This year, Hillside Special Santas has expanded to provide holiday cheer to more than 5,600 youth—1,600 more than in previous years.
“The growth of Hillside Special Santas and what it has meant to the youth and families is truly reflective of that special human quality that is shown when there are others in need,” says Sally Bohne, Hillside Special Santas manager.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will also act as a way for Hillside Special Santas to thank the many community partners that have helped to fulfill Hillside Special Santas’ gift goal by providing an opportunity for people to pick up gift tags at their locations. Many of them are scheduled to be in attendance.
