Hillside Family of Agencies appoints Executive Director of
Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection in Syracuse
O'Connor will oversee program proven to raise graduation rates for at-risk students
 
Syracuse, NY-April 30, 2007-Hillside Family of Agencies has appointed Wayne O'Connor to the position of Executive Director for Hillside Works-Scholarship Connection (HW-SC) in Syracuse.

As executive director, O'Connor will be responsible for the management and administration of HW-SC Syracuse program staff, services, and facilities in accordance with the mission and vision of Hillside Family of Agencies.

"Wayne is the ideal choice to lead Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection in Syracuse. His background in educational administration is exceptional and his unwavering dedication to helping the students of the Syracuse City School District achieve their fullest potential is truly impressive," says Dennis Richardson, president and CEO of Hillside Family of Agencies.

Prior to his appointment as executive director, O'Connor served as the director of the Syracuse CHOICE program. Before assuming that position in 2003, he served in the Syracuse City School District as an area superintendent with instructional oversight of 19 schools and programs. Previous to that appointment, O'Connor was a principal for 14 years.

"My commitment to the children of Syracuse has been a life long one. As Executive Director of Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection in Syracuse, my desire and enthusiasm to work with these young people remains as strong as ever," says O'Connor.

O'Connor received an associate's degree from Onondaga Community College in 1965. He then went on to earn a bachelor of science degree at the State University of New York-College at Brockport in 1970. In 1976 he earned a certificate of advanced study from the State University of New York-College at Cortland.
