Hillside Children's Center's Livingston County Youth Court holds mock hearing to commemorate National Law Day

Mock hearing an example of Law Day 2007 theme-"Liberty Under Law: Empowering Youth, Assuring Democracy"

A mock hearing in celebration of National Law Day that is conducted by the youth court's highly trained student volunteers functioning as the judge, jury, prosecution, defense, jury, and bailiff.

WHY
The mock hearing offers an opportunity for the community to view how an authentic youth court functions. It also offers members of Hillside Children's Center's Livingston County Youth Court the opportunity to showcase the positive impact the court has on the community and its young people.
 
 
SCHEDULE    
6:00 to 6:15 p.m. - Opening reception with refreshments
6:15 to 6:45 p.m. - Mock Hearing
6:45 to 7:00 p.m. - Recognition of new members & certificate presentation

Hillside Children's Center is an affiliate of Hillside Family of Agencies, a family and children services organization that provides child welfare, mental health, youth development, juvenile justice, special education, and developmental disabilities services across central and western New York.
