New York State Broadcaster's Award for
'Today's Family: Celebrating Today's Family'

“Today’s Family: Celebrating Today’s Family,” a television special co-produced by Hillside Family of Agencies and WROC News 8 Now, has been named Best Public Affairs Program by the New York State Broadcasters Association.

"Today’s Family: Celebrating Today’s Family" explores family structure in the new millennium and the issues and challenges facing the “new age” family units that exist today.

Hosted by WROC News 8 Now anchors Kevin Doran and Maureen McGuire, the show features profiles of single parent, blended, extended, foster, and adoptive families in our community. Viewers are provided with a detailed examination of how financial, social, economic, and other contributing factors have brought about the existence of non-traditional types of families.

"Celebrating Today’s Family" is the seventh program in the award-winning "Today's Family" series, developed to increase awareness and understanding about critical issues affecting New York State families. Other shows in the series dealt with teen suicide, domestic abuse, youth substance abuse, stress, sexuality among today’s youth, and childhood obesity.

Hillside Family of Agencies, a nonprofit organization comprised of affiliates Crestwood Children’s Center, Crestwood Children’s Foundation, Hillside Children’s Center, Hillside Children’s Foundation, Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection, and Snell Farm Children’s Center, provides child welfare, mental health, youth development, juvenile justice, special education, and developmental disabilities services to children and families across Central and Western New York.
